Crumb and I managed to convince our lovely friend Miki to join for this track. Together we completed the 10km in 2.5 hours. We both had fears that this walk was cursed in the beginning. I hadn’t checked the trail information well enough beforehand, and it was only after our ride had driven off that we saw the “No Dogs” signs. Luckily, Crumb is backback-sized, so she rode shotgun for the first little bit through a reserve. We were then faced with another obstacle; the fence we were supposed to go through had been wired shut. There were no obvious detour signs, so we scaled the fence and managed to get back on the trail.
The rest was relatively smooth sailing. Other than the many detours made to check out interesting things we spotted along the way. Including climbing Mount Wiri, which has a mysterious rock circle at the summit!
Despite some barriers, we definitely enjoyed this section. It was a little run-down but had a certain whimsy. We also continued a little past the end of this section, so we could tick off the Botanic Gardens too.
